What if I can’t attend the live sessions?
All sessions are recorded, so you can watch on your own schedule. That said, the live experience—especially the personalized coaching—is where the magic happens. We encourage attending live when you can.
How does WhatsApp/texting support work?
You can send text messages, voice messages, or async video messages directly to Dr. Cheryl when you have a question or need support. She responds when available—it’s more personal than email and gives you real-time access to coaching exactly when you need it.
What if my anxiety is really severe?
This program was designed specifically for moderate to severe public speaking anxiety—including panic attacks, blanking out, and significant avoidance. The MAP System and DAART Protocol are evidence-based approaches drawn from 60+ years of anxiety research. That said, this is not a replacement for therapy if you have other mental health concerns.
What’s the difference between Practice Clubs and peer-guided practice sessions?
Practice Clubs are peer-facilitated sessions focused on getting speaking reps in a safe environment. Peer-guided practice sessions are more structured—LAB members who’ve been trained facilitate these sessions and integrate specific MAP techniques into the practice, making them a hybrid between a workshop and a practice session. You get both with The LAB.

About Dr. Cheryl Mathews
Dr. Cheryl Mathews holds a Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) and has dedicated her career to helping people overcome the specific challenges of public speaking anxiety. She developed the MAP System by combining 60+ years of research on anxiety, phobias, and systematic desensitization into a practical, compassionate approach.
Unlike “tough love” approaches that push you into overwhelming situations, Dr. Cheryl’s method focuses on safe, strategic exposure that actually rewires your brain for confidence. She’s helped hundreds of people transform from panic to presence—and she can help you too.

The LAB was a wonderful experience! I was able to finally learn valuable techniques to help me better manage anxiety in a very safe environment.
I met others with the same challenges in the LAB and that made it a lot easier for me to relax and realize that we were all on the same journey and were there to help each other. After the first two sessions, I began to see my anxiety coming down through lots of practice opportunities I got in the lab. In one lab session, I gave a 5-minute talk and I was so happy because I knew I could do it.
Toastmasters is great but it was too overwhelming for me. The LAB however gave me a way to work on my anxiety gradually in a very manageable way. After the LAB, I am now confident that I have the tools to join a toastmasters group online to increase my practice opportunities.
