You Know You Need to Practice.
But Where Can You Do It Safely?
Toastmasters feels too intense. Work meetings are too high-stakes. Practicing alone doesn’t work. You need a place designed specifically for people with anxiety—where you can build confidence without the pressure.

The Problem With Most Practice Options
❌ Toastmasters
Too overwhelming for high anxiety. The pressure to perform can actually make things worse—and may even create new traumatic memories.
❌ Work Meetings
Stakes are too high. You can’t experiment with new techniques when your job is on the line. You need a safe space to fail and learn.
❌ Practicing Solo
Doesn’t trigger the same anxiety response. Your brain needs real groups mixed with solo practice—so you get the desensitization you need.
Introducing Practice Clubs
A safe, supportive community designed specifically for people with high speaking anxiety. Get the reps you need to rewire your brain—without the painful overwhelm.
🛡️
Safe Environment
Everyone understands anxiety. No judgment. Start with camera off if you need to. Speak for 10 seconds or 10 minutes—whatever works for you.
♾️
Unlimited Meetings
Sessions Monday through Saturday. Attend as many as you want. Build your database of positive memories—aim for 50, then 100.
👥
Small Groups
Just 4-8 people per session. Everyone gets multiple chances to practice. Intimate enough to feel comfortable, real enough to trigger growth.
“I just finished a meeting that I usually have panic attacks in on 60 mg beta blockers. Today, I had 0 beta blockers, and no panic attack! I truly am healing, for the first time in years. I can’t believe how big of a difference just a few weeks of sessions has made for me.”

The Science Behind It
60+ years of research shows that gradual, repeated exposure is the key to overcoming anxiety. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it.
✓ The Right Way (What We Do)
Practice in the “sweet spot” — anxiety level of 4-6 on a 10-point scale. High enough to trigger growth, low enough to stay in control.
Build positive memories — each successful experience rewires your brain’s fear response. 50 positive memories is the first milestone.
Gradual progression — start with 10 seconds, work up to minutes. Camera off, then on. Easy topics, then harder ones.
✗ The Wrong Way (What Most People Do)
“Flooding” — throwing yourself into high-anxiety situations hoping to “get over it.” Often creates new trauma instead of healing.
White-knuckling it — gritting your teeth through presentations without any tools to manage the anxiety. Exhausting and often counterproductive.
Avoidance — waiting until you “feel ready.” You never will. The anxiety has to be faced—just in the right way.
Think of It Like a Gym—For Your Confidence
You wouldn’t expect to get fit by reading about exercise or watching workout videos. You have to actually do the reps. The same is true for speaking confidence.
3-5x
sessions per week recommended for optimal desensitization
50%
reduction in anxiety typically seen after 8-16 weeks of consistent practice
1 Year
of consistent practice creates lasting transformation and new habits
What Happens in a Practice Club Session
📖 Want the complete picture?
Read our in-depth guide to how Practice Club sessions work — including question difficulty levels, exercise types, duration guidelines, and more.
🎯 Practice whatever you need: Interview questions, presentations, speeches, impromptu topics, introductions, read-aloud exercises, storytelling—you decide what to work on.
⏱️ Go at your pace: Start with 10-30 seconds. Work up to 1 minute, then 5. Keep your camera off at first if that helps. There’s no pressure—only progress.
💬 Get supportive feedback: Find out how little your anxiety actually shows (spoiler: it’s usually way less than you think). Practice your DAART skills in real time.
👥 Connect with others who get it: You’re not alone. Everyone in the group understands what it’s like to struggle with speaking anxiety. That shared understanding creates instant psychological safety.

“The Course and Practice Clubs were invaluable to me for overcoming public speaking anxiety. I was experiencing panic attacks and intense anxiety during work meetings, presentations, and seemingly simple things like briefly introducing myself on the first day of a class. I would get a racing heart, tunnel vision, and lose the ability to speak and think clearly. I participated regularly in practice clubs for about nine months. The practice clubs were of tremendous value. There is nothing like getting real world experience speaking in front of others in the supportive environment of the practice clubs. I noticed my fear gradually receding, and today I am happy to say I am doing much better. My fear is greatly diminished and I don’t dwell on upcoming speaking events nearly as much as I used to. I can’t recommend this program enough!”

Common Questions
📖 Want the complete picture?
Read our in-depth guide to how Practice Club sessions work — including question difficulty levels, exercise types, duration guidelines, and more.
What if I’m too anxious to even join a session?
That’s exactly who this is for. You can start with your camera and mic off—just observe. Then maybe type in the chat. Then turn on your camera. Then say one word. There’s no minimum requirement. Go at whatever pace feels manageable for you.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Nope! You can bring a presentation or speech if you want to practice something specific. But many people just do impromptu exercises—it’s a great way to loosen up and build confidence without pressure.
How many people in a meeting?
Each session typically has 4-6 people, which gives everyone lots of practice opportunities. This intimate group size means you’ll get multiple chances to speak without the overwhelm of a large audience. However, we do have ways to simulate larger groups in the meetings. And we encourage you to use SpeakCalmHQ Practice Clubs as a stepping stone toward in-person Toastmasters groups or other speaking venues. We can help you strategize how to take small, gradual steps and work up to your goals—whatever those may be.
Who leads the sessions?
Sessions are facilitated by community members who’ve been given leadership roles—most have been mentored by Dr. Cheryl and traveled this journey themselves. They understand what you’re going through.
Are meetings online or in-person?
All Practice Club sessions are held online via Zoom. However, we do have ways to simulate in-person audiences and larger speaking scenarios. Most participants tell us that the online format translates well to in-person situations. While desensitizing online won’t translate 100% to in-person speaking, it will definitely help and is a good place to start building your confidence. We encourage you to use SpeakCalmHQ Practice Clubs as a stepping stone toward in-person Toastmasters groups, workplace presentations, or other speaking venues. Our goal is to help you build the confidence and skills you need to succeed in any speaking situation—starting with the safety and convenience of online practice.
How long does it take to see results?
Most people see a 50% reduction in anxiety within 8-16 weeks of consistent practice. But real transformation—the kind that sticks—comes from practicing 3-5 times per week for a full year. That’s when new neural pathways become permanent.
What’s included in the MAP System Course?
The Complete MAP System Course ($247 value) teaches you the full framework: Mindset Shifts to reframe how you think about anxiety, Activation Control techniques (including the DAART Protocol) to manage symptoms in the moment, and Practice Smart strategies to maximize your desensitization. It’s everything you need to make your practice sessions more effective.
